Anticipation is great, but if you spend too much time with it, you are actually living in your dreams and expectations. So be happy that something exciting is going to happen, but be here and now. If it's hard, meditation is the best way.
If you've got a parcel or a gift, try not to open it fast. Let it be covered for some time (5-10 minutes), so you will enjoy your anticipation.
Anticipation can be great, you just need to control the time that you spend anticipating. Only this way you will be able to live a normal life before the event you are waiting for comes. So you can start anticipating in 1-2 hours before it, for example. Before that, try to focus on the present moment.
