Try to look at stressful situations with a more positive eye. For example, if you are stuck in a traffic, it will become only worse if you fume about it, so better take a chance to meditate or to listen to your favourite music, etc.
Are you not sure how to lower stress? Ask yourself how important it will be in a month or a year, or sometimes even in a few hours. Is it really worth getting upset over? If the answer is no, focus your time and energy elsewhere. If the answer is yes, your stress won't help anyway, so better calm down and think what you can do for changing the situation.
When facing some challenges that can cause you stress, try to look at them as opportunities for personal growth. If your own poor choices contributed to a stressful situation, don't eat yourself for that and better learn from your mistakes.
If you are thinking about the situation that stressed you out again and again, you make it only harder for yourself. So, find some other more interesting things to think about and draw your attention to them. This way you will just forget about stress.
Everyone has their own idol among friends or family who seems very wise. Remember this person when some situation causes you stress, and ask yourself how would he or she react. It will help you to find some rational views on the same situation and this is how to cope with stress properly.
