Maybe this error is caused due to the connection between the Google account you are logged in on your device, and Google apps, i.e. it might have been severed. In order for Google apps, including Google Play, to work, they need a Google account, and most importantly, an active connection with it.
A simple resolution to this issue, in this case, is logging out from your Google account and logging back into it, so that the connection between the app and the Google account is reestablished.
