Maybe the modem is the reason for the long download time. If the modem's activity light is not blinking, that is one more reason to restart the modem.

The easiest way to restart the modem is to unplug the power cord from the outlet and wait for a couple of minutes. After that plug it back in the outlet and everything should be back to normal.
