Don't know how to disable startup programs

1. Go to the Start menu -> type msconfig.exe in the Search programs and files box -> Right-click the msconfig icon once it appears and Run as Administrator
   
   

   
   
   

2. Once the msconfig (System Configuration) window appears, select Startup -> Untick the checkboxes next to the programs you don't want to start when Windows starts -> Apply the changes -> OK
   
   

   
   
   

3. Restart the computer
   
   

Note: Don't untick Windows related files (C: \Windows\xyz) because they are important for the system stability and good performance.

Also, Windows 8(.1) and Windows 10 users can disable startup programs via Task Manager.

To access it:

1. Right-click the taskbar (or the start menu icon) and select Task Manager
   
   

   
   
   

2. Select the Startup tab -> Select the program you want to disable -> Click Disable
   
   

   
   
   

1. Click the search button in the top-left side of the screen and type startup app -> Click Startup Applications once it appears
   
   

   
   
   

2. Untick the checkbox next to the program you want to prevent from starting when Ubuntu starts
