What is iTunes error 2009 caused by? How to fix it?
Error 2009 mainly appears when a user attempts to restore their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, and they fail.
The reasons behind this error include:
The solutions listed below should help you fix this error and restore your device. Make sure to follow them to the letter.
If you get the error 2009 when restoring the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, try restarting the iOS device and the computer and after the computer turns back on, try restoring your device again.
If you are not sure how to restart them, feel free to check the don't know how to restart my device guide.
If you tried all the other options to fix this issue, including connecting your device to another computer with a different USB cable, but nothing worked, consider taking your device to a repair shop so that they can investigate this issue further.
Maybe you get the error code 2009 because the iTunes version installed in your computer is outdated. In this case, all you need to do is to update it, either via iTunes itself or by downloading it from Apple's website.
To check if your iTunes version is up-to-date (and update it, if it's not), open iTunes, click on Help and select Check for Updates.
Another reason for error 2009 is a bad connection between the computer and the iOS device. Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable on both ends and try restoring your device again.
There is an extremely small possibility that an outdated antivirus software is the reason for the error 2009 message, because it mistakenly believes that iTunes files, or files iTunes attempts to download to update or restore your iOS device will do harm the computer. This is usually the case if you update iTunes to the latest version, but you haven't updated iTunes in a long time. To fix this, check if an update for your antivirus software is available, by visiting the developer's website and if it is, apply it.
You can check if an update is available for your operating system in the Help, or Setup tab of your antivirus software, or by visiting the antivirus developer's website. If an update is available, apply it.
If you get the error message 2009 and you are not sure how to address it, consider contacting Apple support and they will help you diagnose and fix the issue.

If none of the other solutions worked, and the error message 2009 persists, try updating or restoring your device on another computer, following the steps in the video.
Maybe there is something wrong with the computer's USB port, not with your iOS device. Connect your device to a different USB port (if you use a desktop computer, connect it to the USB ports on the back of the computer) and try restoring your device.
Try restoring your device using another USB cable. If you were able to restore it successfully, the USB cable was the causer of error 2009 and you should consider replacing the USB cable.
Maybe the iTunes Helper is the reason why you get the error 2009 message. Try disabling it first and then try restoring your device. To disable the iTunes Helper, follow the steps below:
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys to access the Task Manager. Locate iTunes Helper, right-click on it and select End task.
Go to System Preferences, click on Account, and then click on Login Items. Locate iTunes Helper in the list and disable it.
After iTunes Helper is disabled, connect your device to the computer and try restoring it.
