When you once get sunburns, the best thing to do is to protect your self from the sun. You should immediately cover your self and not let the heat from the sun touch your skin. Also you should avoid sun the next few week , during the healing process of your skin, because if you get sunburns again , you may get blister and scars.
If you can not deal with the pain from your sunburns, you can ask your doctor to prescribe some pain-killers.He will also give you a proper dose. He may give you Ibuprofen, that will help you by reducing the pain , redness and inflammation. It is usually taken every 6 hours in a dose of 400 mg , only by adults. Children should not take it. Or he may prescribe you Naproxen if Ibuprofen does not help you.

But sometimes there are bigger problems that goes with sun exposure than redness , inflammation or itching.If you get sunburns that are really painful and have blisters you should go and see doctor.Also if you feel fever and chills or an upset stomach , you should definitely ask for medical assistance. You may also feel confusion or headaches, because you may have dehydration. All of those signs are very dangerous and may lead to heat stroke. Because of these if you have any of those symptoms, you should immediately visit doctor.

So when you notice redness on your skin from sunburns, start drinking water immediately. Drink water all the time. You can also drink coconut water and other types of water which contain electrolytes.
The sun is at its strongest between 10am and 4pm in almost every part of the world. Staying out of the sun between these hours decreases chances of a sunburn and reduces the potential severity if one is obtained
