Fragile nails (fingers, toes, causes, treatment)

If your nails are too fragile and especially if you have some other symptoms like fragile hair and dry or oily face skin, it is possible that your body needs some more vitamins and minerals. So help it with special beauty supplements. There are a lot of them, ask for advice in a pharmacy store and choose the best ones for you.

Buy vitamin E in any pharmacy store and rub a drop of it in your nails, leave it for a night. Do it every evening and you will see the results quite quickly. Your nails will become stronger and healthier.

Drinking enough water every day is very important for your health because you can remember from biology lessons in school, that 50-65% of your body is water. So it's very important for your nails to be hydrated enough for being healthy and strong.

Even if you don't use any chemical agents it's better to wear gloves while cleaning or washing something, because it is bad for your nails if they are in contact with water for too long. If you do use chemical agents for cleaning and washing, wearing gloves is even more necessary.

Lemon juice is very good for nails, it makes them stronger and whiter. So just smear your nails with a little amount of lemon juice and leave it for a night. You can do this procedure every week.

Always wear gloves or mittens when it's wintery outside. A sudden change of temperature is a bad influence on your nails, so it's better to keep them warm.

Use hand cream regularly especially when it's cold or when the air is too dry, or after too long contact with water. It is good not only for your hand skin but for your nails as well, as there are a lot of nutrition and hydration components.

If you are going to the seaside for vacation, don't put any nail polish or Shellac on your nails and swim in the sea regularly. Sea water has a lot of minerals and salt and iodine which are great for nails. So even if you are going to the seaside to several days, it will be a great therapy for you nails and they will become stronger.

Healthy eating is great for all your body and for nails as well. The best foods for strong and beautiful nails are bananas, nuts, oily fish, broccoli, cheese and beans. So add them to your diet and don't forget to eat enough and differently.

Take care of your nails regularly. Keep them clean, hydrate and nutrify them with oils and creams, do a light manicure at least once a week and they will look good all the time and will recover faster.

If you want to make your nails strong and beautiful quite fast, follow this procedure every day: 

1. Put some warm (but not hot!) water in a bowl
2. Add one teaspoon of salt
3. Add two drops of medical iodine
4. Mix them together
5. Put your hands in a bowl for 10-15 minutes

You need to remember that it works only if your nails are not covered with any polish.

Your nails are not a screwdriver or anything like that. So don't try to unbolt or chip something with them, otherwise, you can damage them easily.

Wear short nails at least while they are fragile yet and you are trying to recover them with different methods. Short manicure is harder to damage, so your nails will be thankful to you.

If you've broken one of your nails, never leave it the way it is as it will become chipping. Take care of if with a file or sharp nails scissors as soon as possible.

Buff your nails as rarely as just possible or better don't use the buffing file at all. Yes, nails look better after buffing, but this procedure makes them thinner and it's not good for them, especially if they are already fragile.

Always nutrify your nails after taking off your nail polish or Shellac. You can do it with natural oils like olive, almond, coconut, etc. Or just put some hand cream and rub it to your nails.

If you use nail polish regularly it is very important for your nails to have some rest from it. At least two days per week your nails must be free from nail polishes. Only this way they can be healthy as they need to breathe and it's not possible under the polish.

Regularly make a pause in using Shellac. Don't cover your nails with it right after you took off the previous layering, give them some time for rest. Otherwise, you can get a lot of problems with your nails.

Use only very sharp scissors for your manicure. Dull manicure instruments push on the nail too hard and can cause some damage.

If you have fragile nails for too long and if you have some other symptoms, it's better to go to a doctor and check for underlying conditions. Some diseases like diabetes, thyroid and neurological problems, etc. can cause fragile nails.

There are special polishes for fragile nails. They consist vitamins, proteins, minerals and hydration components. Use such nail polishes and they won't cause as much damage to your nails as the usual ones.

All nail polishes are not healthy for your nails, but the most aggressive are the ones with very bright pigment. So it's better to prefer quite colours for your manicure. Of course, you can have colourful manicure from time to time, but as rarely as possible if you want your nails to be stronger.

It is just wonderful that we've got Shellac in our lives because with it you can have nice manicure for much longer than with usual nail polish, but you need to remember that even if your Shellac layering looks okay in two weeks, it is better to take it off as your nails need to breathe and it's not healthy for them to be covered with something chemical for so long.

Remember to move your file in one direction and don't hurry while doing your manicure. If you move it back and forth and do it too quickly, it can easily damage your nails and make them chipping.

Choose the right file for your nails. The more fragile and thin they are, the fewer grain sizes of your manicure file must be.

Files are more secure than scissors for sure, but some of them can make damage to your nails anyway. So never use metal files as they are too traumatic. The best ones for fragile nails are ceramic and glass.

Regular smoking makes nails fragile and gives them very unhealthy yellow colour. So if you really want to recover your nails, it's better to stop smoking like today. Not only your nails but the whole your organism will be thankful.

When you are looking for a new nail polish, don't buy the one that is the cheapest. Better choose the one that has a good reputation for years, this way you will be sure it is good and won't cause too much damage to your nails.

Don't cut cuticles because it damages nails and they grow slower. Better use a special softening agent for this case.

If you go to a swimming pool regularly, you can notice that your nails became weaker. It's because of chlorine in the water. So each time after swimming wash your hands and nails with clear water and nutrify them with some oils or cream.

If your nails are too fragile, it is better to not use nail polish at all for at least 2-3 months. Even not polished nails can look very nice and tidy if you care about them. If it's too hard for you, of course, you can use polish from time to time, for special occasions, but as rarely as just possible, if you really want your nails to get better.

Make your nails elliptical or squared with smooth corners. These forms are the best for avoiding damages of your nails. And the less damages your nails have, the stronger they are.

Most of the manicure masters and cosmetologists would say to you to not use scissors for manicure at all and to prefer a nail file instead of them. File is much more secure for your nails, but of course if you use it the right way.

Choose the one that consists not too much acetone. Also, it would be great if it had some oils and minerals for nails in it. Of course, it won't be a recovery therapy for your nails, but at least it won't be as harsh as usual nail polish removers.

If you are making Shellac yourself, not it the salon and you need to take it off yourself, always use special devices for it. This way taking off Shellac won't cause too much damage to your nails.

Don't ever use a usual nail polish remover for taking off your Shellac. It doesn't work as good as the special one, so you can damage your nails while trying to remove Shellac.

If you don't make Shellac layering for yourself and you made it in a salon, don't try to take it off by yourself as you don't have any experience in it and it's quite traumatic and hard procedure. Better go to the same salon and ask a professional to take your Shellac off.
